All the patterns, materials, cuttings and sewing are done in Northern California. Each pair is individually made. Consequently, rarely are two pair alike in color.
But, that’s a good consequence as each pair is one-of-a-kind. We are not inspired by popular culture but by the surfers’ choice.
10% of every pair of Chub Wear sold goes to Stanford’s Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital.
Wave Tribe is very stoked to be part of this SOUL surfer and his beautiful craft, don't be a 'corporate look alike' order something unique from CHUB.
When CHUB was 13, he started surfing and took pleasure in making his own surf trunks. They seemed to last only a season, but that gave him the opportunity to make another pair.
Surfing through the sixties, seventies and eighties the trunks took on different styles and shapes. Yet he was always drawn back to the sixty’s style: leg, waist and side bands, alternating panels or solids, with a cut above the knee.
Family and friends started knocking at his door and taking his trunks as soon as they came off the sewing machine. Soon he couldn't keep up and Chub Wear (“Chub” because that’s what my kids called me) became a small “cottage” business nestled in the trees where the mountains meet the sea in Trinidad, California.
