Well, besides the waves . . . and your surfboard . . . and your Wave Tribe gear (hehe).

The one thing that links all those together is the ocean. We started Wave Tribe with an eco vision, and the ocean is at the core of what we do and why we do it. 

The ocean, that playground of everlasting joy for surfers, is my sanctuary and yours, but parts of it are sick and require our help. This planet is 70 percent ocean and we need to support the organizations that are part of its stewardship. Being connected to something greater than ourselves is at the core of our being.   

Laird Hamilton said it well: "For those searching for something more than just the norm. We lay it all down, including what others call insanity, for just a few moments on waves larger than life. We do this because we know there is still something greater than all of us. Something that inspires us spiritually. We start going down hill, when we stop taking risks."  

Taking risks also means standing up for who and what we are. It means recognizing that we are not alone, and that our actions impact the world around us. In this issue, I am dedicating my article to the heroes of ocean conservation. I encourage you to support an organization listed below, become a volunteer or offer your services to help further their mission. 

We are deeply grateful to have the opportunity to give back and help support other organizations that are consciously helping to heal our oceans and that educate present and future generations about ocean ecology and sustainability.

We created the Heal The Oceans Campaign in response to our commitment to help support these non profit organizations and their missions.
